The Europe Hub – Where Africa’s Voice Shakes Global Tables
From London to New York, the AWRA Europe Hub is the space where our African women’s movement steps into the global spotlight, not as guests, but as agenda-setters. This is the hub where we connect the grassroots realities from Africa to the corridors of power that shape policies, narratives, and funding flows worldwide.
We’re rooted in the African diaspora, but our heart beats in sync with the women on the frontlines from the activists in West Pokot pushing to end FGM, to the campaigners in The Gambia fighting for legal reform. Our strength comes from that connection. We live between worlds: one foot in African activism, the other in the rooms where the decisions get made.
Global Advocacy, Survivor-Led
In the Europe Hub, we bring survivor-led voices to the global stage, from UN meetings to EU debates to global media platforms. We challenge the stereotypes, the policy blind spots, and the tokenism that too often defines how African women are represented internationally. We speak not just to be heard, but to shift the way decisions are made, ensuring they reflect the lived experiences of women and girls across the continent.
Resource Mobilisation That’s Bold and Direct
This hub is our resource engine. We don’t wait for charity. We forge partnerships with donors, philanthropists, and institutions who understand that funding African women’s leadership isn’t just a moral duty, it’s the smartest investment in long-term change. And we push hard for funding that is flexible, long-term, and gets directly into the hands of frontline movements.
The Unique Edge of the Europe Hub
What makes this hub different from our East and West Africa hubs is its strategic position and access. While our African hubs are leading the charge on the ground, driving community change and regional policy reform, the Europe Hub is leveraging influence, resources, and visibility at the global level. We translate grassroots realities into political leverage. We ensure that the laws passed, the funding committed, and the narratives told at the international level are informed by the women living those realities.
A Bridge, A Loudspeaker, A Force
Think of the Europe Hub as the loudspeaker for our movement. We carry the voices of African women into spaces that shape the global agenda. We build solidarity across movements, linking our sisters on the continent with allies around the world. And we never forget that the power we hold here comes with the responsibility to channel it back ; in resources, in influence, and in opportunities, to the communities driving the real change.
In short, the AWRA Europe Hub is where local struggles become global priorities, where survivor voices become policy shifts, and where African women lead from the centre, not the margins, of the world stage.
The African Women’s Rights Advocates (AWRA) is a dynamic, survivor-led movement founded by African women across the continent and in the diaspora.
