In March 2025, African Women Rights Advocates (AWRA) took part in a series of high-level convenings and strategic engagements during the 69th Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) week in New York and Washington, D.C. Partnering with The Vavengers, legal allies, and civil society actors, AWRA spotlighted global healthcare and legal disparities facing FGM survivors, advocated for survivor-centred policies, and strengthened ties between African grassroots movements and global decision-makers. Through panel discussions, roundtables, and private strategic meetings, AWRA elevated survivor voices, championed feminist funding models, and set the stage for the launch of a global legal and healthcare disparities report at UNGA 2025. Key outcomes included new partnerships, a unified donor engagement agenda, and the filming of an upcoming documentary to amplify survivor-led activism on the global stage.
