Naimah Hassan

CEO

Naimah Hassan is a feminist leader, campaigner, and disruptor committed to dismantling systems of inequality and building futures where African women and girls are safe, free, and thriving. For over 17 years, she has worked across 10 countries at the intersection of education, equity, and philanthropy—driving large-scale social impact, forging powerful partnerships, and mobilizing resources to catalyze systemic change.

She is the Co-founder and CEO of African Women Rights Advocates (AWRA)—a women-led, survivor-led movement uniting activists, grassroots leaders, and allies to end violence against women and girls. Guided by the belief that the most powerful change happens when those most affected lead the solutions, Naimah champions community-led strategies, authentic storytelling, and bold advocacy.

Her work has amplified the voices of survivors, supported emerging leaders, and influenced policy conversations on global stages. As a trainer, consultant, and speaker—including a TED platform in 2019—she has inspired audiences worldwide to reimagine justice and equity.
Rooted in the principle of being the change she wants to see, Naimah is on a lifelong journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning—creating spaces built on growth, respect, and solidarity, and leading a movement that will outlive us all.
